Week 1
May started off nicely with a day off school for Labour Day :)We had planned on going to E-World (the theme park in Daegu) however after coming home at 430am after the baseball - we decided against getting up early.
Instead we headed downtown - had some lunch - then went to Druyu park -where we chilled in the sun - tried to learn to play rugby and then played dodgeball.
I had planned on having a very quiet weekend and saving some money.
Most of my friends had booked to go paragliding for the weekend - and I hadn't been able to afford the ticket at the time.
Then on Friday evening - I saw a message that a girl was trying to see one of her tickets - so I snapped it up. Quiet weekend- pahh!
On the Saturday - we paraglided (not sure if that's a word - but I like it) - we were in the air for around 10 mins. A small group of us had been sat up at the launch site for a few hours (I maybe misheard the word LUNCH - sorry guys), but it was warm with decent views so I wasn't complaining. (A few beers wouldn't have gone a miss though!)
It was a weird experience - I think that I was expecting more of a thrill when it was more relaxing!
After landing - we headed to the nearest GS25 and sat outside enjoying the sun with a few beers.
The pension was in a really nice location - mountains, a stream and a nice BBQ area. There was a BBQ included in the trip - including alcohol. I like gatherings when it's pour your own alcohol and you're within walking distance to your bed!
We blasted out (screeched) some tunes out on the karaoke - ate some cookies and then slept on the not so comfy floor.
In most pensions, there are no beds and you get mats and covers - generally these can be made pretty comfortable - however we were not so lucky at this place! We also had a lottttt of snorers in our room.....you know who you were!!
The next day we decided to have a bit more sleep and then headed to Gyeongju to check out some tombs. Everything was really busy as it was Children's Day. (So mum, when you told me it was everyday, here in Korea they actually have a day! I feel scammed haha). We decided to make our own way home so that we could head to eat some Mexican food. Don't want to go into it again - but let's just say that I will NOT be eating at Caliente ever again!

Week 2
Friday night was Courtney's Birthday - so after pre drinks in The Gok - we headed downtown to Cafe Te where we had rented out the rooftop drinking area. Drinks were had. I decided that I needed an extra kick - so headed to GoGo's with two others. Zombies were ordered. This may have been a bad idea. Sorry Cat, Sorry Paudi.![]() |
| LET'S SAY STRONGER THREE TIMES..... |
I woke up bright and early - and 'Urg I'm such a douchebag' was the only thing that I could think about. So to take my mind off how much I fail at life - I went shopping and for lunch with April!
Feeling much better about life - I headed to Daejeon ready to take part in a Barefoot walk. We ate at an AMAZING Indian Restaurant (Indy).
We were woken up at around 1am at the Jimjibang with the man who worked there shouting at me and Grace (well..... we thought he was shouting....Korean often sounds angry to me) - it turns out that he was just telling us to hide our phones as some had been stolen the week before!
The walk was amazing (so glad that I did the walk not the run though - it was uphill and tough - I would not have been fit enough) - butttt we got a free drink of Mackiss at every kilometer and at various other points along the trail. So, basically it was a slow walk through a forest with free alcohol! Perfect!!

Week 3
Thanks to Buddah we had a three day weeekend!!So we headed to Geoje - an island just south of Busan. Everyone in Korea seemed to be traveling so we were stuck in traffic for most of the journey down there....but got to chill out on the minibus - so the time flew by!

It was nice to just chill with a group of friends - we could all do what we wanted to do it the day.... and know that we would all be there to get drunk with on a night time.

Meabh, Michelle, April, Dan and myself took it upon ourselves to take a 'little walk'. I had originally wanted to visit the Botanical Gardens on an island a short ferry ride from Geoje. We went to the beach near us - but the ferry didn't depart from there - we were told that it departed from Windy Hill.
Windy Hill was also on my list of places that would be cool to visit whilst there - so we went to the bus stop. We were then told that it would be a 2 hour wait for the bus. No thanks.
So we set off walking. It was a bit of a trek (and poor Michelle was wearing flipflops which were cutting into her feet) - but we madeeee it! Windy Hill itself was pretty cool - but there was a cooler rock formation opposite where the windmill was which was really pretty and we chilled on the rocks for a while.

We then attempted to catch the last ferry to the island......but it was fully booked. Ahhh well time to get back to playing drinking games!
Before going home I headed for some of my favourite soup and then went to my what suddenly felt like a very empty apartment.
Week 4
Decision time.I was given my papers to sign my decision whether to re-sign or resign my contract with EPIK.
I decided to re-sign....that's the stay one....right...haha.
I made the difficult decision of asking to change schools. I love my school - the other teachers, the students, my apartment, the principal, the time off that they give me (I best stop before I end up regretting this decision) - buttttt all my Chilgok buddies are leaving - so the thought of being out here with no subway and no chingus - just made me too sad.
But there's a chance that it won't be accepted - so I'm crossing my fingers.
The weather was amazing this week - so once the weekend hit - we hit the park! Chilled in the sun - drank some beer - ate some ice creammm! Life is goood.
Bang = room in Korea. So a multiroom! We played Nintendo Wii - sang some songs and drank some makeoliiiiiii.....! Perfecttttt!
I lost a game of Mario Kart - then belted out some Kesha. Let's get this night startedddd!
Then of course - Go Gos, Who's Bob, Jeep and Star Kebab happened. Keeping it classy.
Sunday was an extrememly lazy day which mainly consisted of me Skyping and eating.
So that was my May - again this month has gone by verrrrrry quickly. I'm glad that I've decided to stay another year as I think that if I was going home it would feel very rushed at the minute. (I might regret my decision come winter time again haha). It's now only 2 full months until Sam and Penny come to visit - woo woo!!
What's coming up in June......
Heading to TOKYOOOOOO next week (so so sooo excited)Busan for Canada day
Finding out whether I can stay in Korea / where I will be working!!
So far that's all I have planned - Tokyo will more than likely take out a big chunk of my wages so will have a quiet-ish month apart from that
