March - St Paddy's Day, Crab Fest and Holi Hai

Spring is now here!! The weather is MUCH better, festivals are back in full swing and my gas and electricity bills are getting back to a nicer number.

Week 1

A school dinner to celebrate a new school year = me eating lots of food for free. This time we had seafood soup with lots of courses - my fave being the rice cooked in the broth from the soup to give it extra flavour! YUM!

Me and April went on a little hike to Apsan - which is a mountain in Daegu.

Week 2

 

For St Patrick's Day we headed to Busan to spend two nights by the beach.
Roger found a hostel which we ended up falling in love with (A new day, Haeundae) - it is a few minutes from Haeundae station and from the beach. On the 7th Floor there's a super cool lounge with an outside area which was great for pre drinking.

On the Friday night we headed out for a few drinks and me, April, Dan and Roger headed to Rock and Rolla for a game of beer pong. This was my first time playing, and April had only played a couple of times - so we paired up with the guys to make it a bit fairer.

Then on Saturday we went to celebrate St Patricks Day - started the day with 'The whole Shebang' which was a full cooked breakfast from the Irish bar......OMG it had been far too long since I had eaten a decent breakfast.

We had a few drinks in the bar, drank on the beach and then went home to green ourselves up. Drinking games on the 7th floor along with some piano playing from Patrick and then we were ready to head out.

We ended up in my personal favourite bar - Blue Monkey - where I ended up getting molested by a Korean girl (she also went for at least 3 other of my friends, so I wasn't even special haha). Her opening line was 'You're pretty - are you lesbian?' - and she then grabbed my boobs without waiting for my response haha.

Danced, danced and danced to some music that I actually liked (crappy pop music mixed with some old school RnB haha) and ended up waking up with no hangover.

Spent Sunday checking out the aquarium before heading back to Daegu!

Week 3

 

We had a 'Welcome to Chilgok' party for the new people which was a decent night!

On Sunday, I went on a mini hike with Meabh as we couldn't wake up early enough to go on the bigger hike. We got to see Chilgok and then we went back to mine and ate Strawberries!!

Week 4

 

Friday night we went to the university area and had some drinks in Sugar Joe's - I ended up being late as I caught the wrong bus (I was having a bad day, I go here a LOT, no idea how I managed to get the wrong bus.....idiot) - this night ended with me and Meabh eating shortbread dipped in peanut butter and chocolate spread!!

I then had to wake up nice and early to catch the bus to go to Yeongdok to go to the crab festival - so I was a tenny bit hungover for the start of the trip - but my peanut butter and chocolate sandwiches helped to perk me up!

We posed with some crabs, made some crabby jokes, ate lots and were interviewed by numerous tv people...... not a bad day!!

We then took the bus to Busan ready for the Holi Hai festival the next day!

We spent Easter Sunday, in Korea, celebrating an Indian festival on the day that we had heard that we were now 'officially at war' - not my most traditional Easter Sunday........ but by FAR one of the best!
