New Years Eve
NYE came round really fast. When we were saying goodbye to people on Sunday - I was really confused as to why people were saying - 'See you tomorrow' - and then it hit me..... it was NYEEEEE!The day at school was a bit of a blur, we didn't really do much - we met the teachers at the other school to discuss what we would be doing at their camp - and we got to leave a little bit earlier than normal..... yay!
The Chilgok girls went for dinner at an Italian that we had been wanting to try for a while.....it was really nice - and they even let us drink our own soju as they didn't have any wine!
'This isn't Champagne......'
'Can I smell yo dick'
and other classy New Years Eve convos went on!
We went downtown - but at around 11pm - I started feeling realllly sick, and I hadn't even drank that much yet, I felt really dizzy and a bit out of it - so I sat down for a bit - but was determined to have a New Years drink. We went to MF - I drank lots of water to try and make myself feel better. Luckily by the time midnight came I was able to start drinking again. So I then started taking shots to make up for the drinks that I had missed.
Our original plan was to stay and watch the sunrise..... as that is the typical Korean New Years Day celebration - but I knew that there was no way that I as going to stay out that long - I still wasn't felling 100% - so I headed home at around 3.30ish.
Replacement ARC Card - How to get a new one
Urghhh, getting a new ARC card was far more trouble than I thought it was going to be.Try not to lose it...... but if you're an idiot like me - here's how I got a new one.
I had to catch 2 buses to get to the Daegu Immigration office - and as I also lost my Daegu Bus Pass - I couldn't get free transfers.
I was told that I would need a new photo - so I went to the Homeplus near by and paid 12,00 won to get new photos.......
I then went to the Immigration office - I had been told it was 10,000 for a new one - it was 20,000.
I found the correct form, filled it out, got a number - was then told that I was in the wrong line.
I had to go to desk one.
I literally had to copper up all my money to pay the 20,000 as I was expecting 10,000. I was then told that I had to pay 4,000 to have it posted to me.
I then asked how long it would take to get a new one - as I leave for The Philippines in 2 and a half weeks - it will take 3 weeks - ARGHHHH.
But all is not lost - I could get a paper certificate to take with me on holiday (so I should be let back in the country....... hopefully)
What you need
-20,000 Replacement card
-4,000 to have it mailed to you
-1,000 for a certificate
What you don't need
- a photo (I now have 12 photos of me looking like a monkey - so yeah, maybe a Christmas present for everyone?!)
Winter Camp - Part 1/3
We helped at a different schools winter camp for 3 days. They were also doing 'The World' - but their camp was only 3 days, compared to our 10. They focused more on the food side, and they had a bigger budget so they could buy more goodies.
We were told that we wouldn't have to prepare anything and that we would be teaching together - but this wasn't exactly the case......... but we had a good time, we ate some pizza and I met some cute kids.
Next week = Week 1 of 2 of Our Camp.......
Weekend
I tried to have a super cheap weekend this weekend as I would really like to save as much money as I can for The Philippines!! I also wanted to catch up on some sleep and spend some time watching some movies - the last few weeks were pretty busy - and I had been in full on Christmas mode for a good few weeks - so I think that I needed to slow myself down a bit.
On Saturday, I watched 3 movies, stalked pictures of Jennifer Lawrence online (majorly obsessed with her atm) - and then went bowling - I standardly sucked (but I didn't get that many gutterballs for once! Yay me!)
On Sunday, me and Nina decided to go for some nice soup, as we had both not being feeling 100% and wanted some winter food to make us feel better. Nina knew this place that served really good chicken soup. An error in translation occured - and we were given tripe soup.
All the fat floated to the top - and it looked like death. I tried a bit of the broth - but I wasn't feeling it. So we went somewhere else and got a really nice spicy pork soup from one of my fave restaurants.....better the devil you know, right!
So yeah, here's to the first week of 2013!!
