The reason for this blog......

So, I thought that this would be a useful way to focus my thoughts and keep everyone updated on my journey to Korea. With all this paperwork and waiting, I feel that this will be useful way to make sure that I stay on track.

And who knows, hopefully I will be able to look back on this and realise that it was all worth it :)

I have decided to apply to work in a public school in Korea first through EPIK, and if that doesn't work I will then look at my other options in Korea. There are a couple of ways that I could go (GEPIK/Private schools) etc. but I won't write myself off before I have even had the interview for EPIK...... all attention on this for the moment.

So, why did I decide to go and teach English in Korea?! Well, as you might know I am currently Au-Pairing in Switzerland, and this has made me realise that I actually do, really like being with kids, working with kids...acting like a kid....! But as much as I love being here with 'my' kids, and living in Switzerland (I'm going to miss you, you pretty little place you!) one of the main reasons is that the money here is just not good enough. It is just not fun not having money. I finished university two years ago, and it would be really nice if my bank could be in positive numbers!

I guess that doesn't answer the question, why Korea - why not Japan, or China. But I will go into this in more detail later as I feel this is plenty long enough for an introduction :)
